Weekend of 14th - 16th July 2000,
- Bromsgrove Folk Festival
- The Dodford Inn, Dodford, Nr Bromsgrove
On Friday 14th July 2000, Wild Clover headlined at the Bromsgrove folk festival which was held at the Dodford Inn, near Bromsgrove. Fortunately the festival coincided with a CAMRA beer festival.
The band went down with some friends, and enjoyed camping for the weekend, listening to and getting inspired by some other folk acts, as well as playing in a few late night sessions.
On the Saturday morning the band took on the 'Dodford All Stars' in a game of football, and with the help of Matt and Sooze Fisher, had a convincing win. Unfortunately the sound engineer was on the opposition, not the best person to hold a grudge against us!! In the evening the band played a storming set, except halfway through the computer decided to break (It wasn't even Windows fault!!), so the group proceeded without the backing. Fortunately they were able to provide a convincing performance, and the lack of accompaniment was hardly noticed. This was actually very good practice, as the band had a gig the next Thursday at the Fiddle and Bone pub in Birmingham, which was a mainly acoustic gig.
The rest of the weekend went without too many hitches and the band were very well received by young and old alike. The band are hoping to return to this festival, and are looking at playing other festivals next year. Keep your eyes peeled!!
